PARK(ing) Day

At the end of September three enthusiastic students from Unitec’s Bachelor of Landscape Architecture School (Olga, Lilo & Suyi), with assistance from Reset Urban Design, took part in PARK(ing) Day. The annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public places.

The student’s concept was for the installation to energise the street and act as a point of navigation. This project is created to explore the range of possible activities for this short-term lease, and to provoke a critical examination of the values that generate the form of urban public space; Bringing an unusual change to a daily space and to encourage people to reconsider the usage of urban space.
