Over the last six months we have been working on a masterplan for a 3800 hectare station near Mount Cook, including a layout for new visitor facilities on the lavender farm which is already the largest in the southern hemisphere and becoming a major drawcard for tourists. Pukaki Downs is a wonderful site with over 2km of lakedge and an extensive backcountry which runs up to the Ben Ohau Range. A range of diverse income streams are being planned as the farm diversifies away from a reliance on pastoral farming. A major challenge is the control and eradication of wilding pines and a replanting of productive and native forests. Further updates on this ground breaking project will be forthcoming.
