The Landing, Hobsonville
The Landing is a site located on the tip of Hobsonville Peninsula which is currently been transformed into a new community with 2,500 homes and 2 schools. The Landing, once home to the TEAL and NZRAF flying boats, is being transformed into a mixed use maritime village. Works include a park n ride, bus terminal, pedestrian connections to the ferry wharf and establishing a coastal esplanade. The design reflects the Air Force’s long term occupancy of the site with landscape elements and lighting inserted along a ‘landscape cordon’ of runway adapted line marking, stamping a bold expression on the expansive site. Furniture, planting, and lighting elements are consolidated along this painted cordon to define the pedestrian and vehicle zones.
