Kaweka is a 100% iwi-owned, medium-density build-to-rent housing development in Ōwairaka, delivered in partnership by Hāpai Housing and New Ground Capital. The project delivered 44 brand-new, high-quality rental homes, designed specifically for long-term tenancy and certified Homestar 7. The homes offer a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom options, catering to a range of modern living needs. The project sets a benchmark for inclusive, community-centred urban development by balancing economic viability with cultural meaning.

The landscape approach comprises of a shared open lawn space, a pergola/seating area, communal raised productive garden beds, private outdoor space and a comprehensive site wide planting strategy. An existing rock outcrop was also successfully incorporated into the site plan as a unique feature within the landscape. Reset worked closely with the consultant team to ensure unique site challenges were addressed through rigorous site planning, design testing and regular information exchange. Reset provided specialist urban design and landscape architecture services from Resource Consent through to tender and construction documentation.
