Reset has been working closely with Studio D4, EDG Planning & Design, and a talented team of planners, engineers, and environmental experts to help bring this urban-design-led, regenerative community masterplanning and development of Mangawhai Hills. A pioneering 185ha regenerative community that represents a new standard for sustainable development in New Zealand. The project has evolved from a conservation-focused design to an ambitious regenerative approach that aims to leave the land, community, and environment in better condition post-development than before.
The masterplanned community features over 50% of the site designated for conservation, with extensive native bush restoration, wetland rewilding, and an integrated trail network. Studio D4 has managed comprehensive community engagement including collaboration with local Iwi Te Uri o Hau, neighbouring property owners, and environmental groups, ensuring the development reflects community values while achieving net-zero (or better) on-site energy, water, wastewater, and carbon emissions.
This visionary project showcases the teams expertise in regenerative masterplanning and positions Mangawhai Hills as one of World's premier sustainable communities.
Reset were engaged to provide specialist landscape architectural and urban design services for the Private Plan Change (PPC84) of the site and provide Landscape and Visual Effects Assessment and Urban Design Assessment for the application. Reset have been involved in the Resource Consent application, detailed design and construction monitoring of the first stage.
